Hannah was out of the shower in record time. Her wet hair was tied back in a messy bun, and she put on a pair of jean shorts and a white tank top before deciding to head downstairs without putting any makeup on.

That was the first thing she’d noticed about Tracy when she jogged over to her deck. She looked amazing without makeup. Maybe even more attractive than she was with it.

Hannah grabbed her phone and slid it into her pocket. Erin was still asleep upstairs, so she took it in case she texted wondering where Hannah was, although they’d slipped right back into their very relaxed, easy-going ways, with neither of them needing to make plans or schedule too much in advance. They might make plans for dinner. That was about it.

Hannah slid her feet into the flip flops she had left at the back door before gently closing the door behind her and making the short walk across the sand to Tracy’s deck, once again appreciating the fact that this beach was her backyard along with everything that came with it. The salty sea air. The calming ebb and flow of the waves meeting the sand drifting through her open window at night. It was so different than her life in New York.

“That was quick,” Tracy said when she saw her coming.

“I didn’t want to keep you waiting.” Hannah climbed the four steps onto the deck, her eyes landing on the bowl of fresh fruit along with some toast topped with avocado and two glasses of orange juice. “That looks amazing.”

“I didn’t want to put the eggs on until you got here. How do you prefer them?”

“Honestly, I’m fine without them.”

“You sure?” Tracy asked, pulling out her chair as Hannah did the same.

“Positive.”

“Alright. Help yourself then,” Tracy said with a smile.

“Thanks for this. I was wondering when I’d bump into you again. I wanted to apologize for the other night. I shouldn’t have said anything.”

Tracy finished chewing and put her slice of avocado toast down. “No. Please. Don’t apologize. There is absolutely nothing to apologize for. Like I said, I’m flattered. Honestly.”

Hannah reached for her glass of orange juice. “Well, I’m happy to forget about it if you are.”

Tracy looked like she wanted to say something, but she simply nodded, and they both ate, the silence not at all awkward. Hannah was actually glad she’d said that. It had been bothering her these last few days. They’d parted on good terms that night with a brief hug, but Hannah still wanted to clear the air.

“Is Erin still here?” Tracy asked after a few moments.

“Hmm. She said she cleared her schedule, but with her, I have no idea what that means. That could be two weeks or two months.”

Tracy chuckled, and Hannah loved the sound of her gentle laugh. “Okay, now you have me curious about what both of you do. To have so much time off.”

“Erin is a semi-famous travel vlogger. She’s been at it for a decade
